Our Objectives and Expected Outcomes

The concrete objectives expected to reach are:

O1. Define and implement user model, efficient and effective, for the evaluation and monitoring of children, build up with Artificial Intelligence(AI) techniques incorporating Bayesian a models of the Item Response Theory (IRT) and following an evidence-base design (ECD)
O2. Build a open-access web platform offering tools for cognitive enrichment (this will be single games for children) with tasks patterns. Those tasks will make to the child to work with mental process of EF.
O3. Develop a methodology to connect the EF with quantifiable events, indicator. From there, we will develop quantitative models to assess the cognitive enrichment and then monitor the cognitive and emotional development of children.
O4. Carry out an experimental fieldwork, of longitudinal character study, with children and teacher of schools, to study and demonstrate the conditions for the optimums cognitive and emotional development of children.
O5. Explore how the use of technology affects the development of EF in children and investigate specifically about the detection and enrichment of cognitive auto-regulation involved in the development and leaning process of children.

The outcomes expected from this research are:

      1) User models for evaluation and cognitive enrichment of children in early ages, base don theoretical models developed in the neuropsychology field.
      2) Computational tools for intervention, based on information technologies, to strengthen the development of executive function in children.
      3) A complete and rigorous study, long in time, of cognitive enrichment in the classroom, in real conditions, to collect, catalogue and analyse automatically scientific evidences to support the effectiveness and suitability of the methods and tools developed, fitted to the needs of each user.
      4) An open access web platform to work with interoperable and shared data, for researchers, neuropsychologist and teacher interested on exploring or applying the results of this project to their studies.

Work Plan

TECHCAT is organized in five Work Packages
Schema Work Packages
Work will be done along four years. During those time we will combine programming development, design of experimetns, formation of teachers and evaluation
